Hell is the trajectory of a soul, living a self-absorbed, self-centered life, going on and on forever.
Hell is one’s freely chosen identity apart from God on a trajectory into infinity.
Hell is the greatest monument to human freedom.
How do you answer the question?
Here’s my answer.
Marriage is a mirror, perhaps the most reflective mirror ever. And what we see in our mirror, if we take the time to look deeply, allows us to experience God in way that isn’t possible any other way.
My mirror shows me how deeply ingrained my individualism and selfishness runs. It shows me that I elevate myself above everything and everyone, including God.
My mirror requires me to consistently confront my insecurities and inflexibility, which I easily ignored while single and which I continue to fight aggressively.
My mirror exposes my fear of not being good enough or deserving of anyone’s love, including God’s. I do not know how to accept love. From anyone. I tolerate love and wear it like an ugly, itchy Christmas sweater I want to get rid of.
What is the purpose of marriage?
I believe that the enduring, softening and elastic nature of marriage is the only way I can approach the holiness God envisions for me.

Leaders who talk about the real world as opposed to the digital world are making a mistake … the digital world is itself a real world, just real in a different way. — Dr. Albert Mohler

3. The metabolic boost that allows for this.

And this.

4. The running community

5. Lots of people do it

6. But not everyone can do it well. It’s hard, and there’s always someone doing it faster.
7. It’s biblical
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. ~1 Corinthians 9:24-25
8. It can be done pretty much anywhere

I confess that I have been seeking to control my own life, and as a result, I have sinned against God. I have been bearing bad fruit, and I want to change. Thank you, Father, for forgiving me in Christ. I want you to have unhindered control of all my life. Please fill me with the your Holy Spirit so that I have the strength to surrender. Amen.
